Tick Talk

 TICK TALK

It's that time of year again!

Spring is here and so are the ticks.

Now I am not going to suggest you avoid tall grass, game trails and rocky areas because to a rockhound or prospector that is like telling a fish to stay out of the water.

They are prevalent March to June. They are small eight legged, kinda teardrop shaped critters that are difficult to squish. For more info and pics go to Ticks in BC.

They don't jump or strategically fall from trees onto you. They wait until someone or some animal aka host brushes up against whatever they are sitting on. Then they make their walking journey towards your head.

Prevention is key.

Long sleeves

Long pants tucked into your socks

Hat

Insect / tick repellant (Natural or DEET)

Performing tick checks of your clothing, body and head after being outdoors.

"Pro tip": A shower works great to remove any that have yet to latch on.

Don't forget to check Fido after a rock romp as well!

Get outside and enjoy!
